Robertson Investigations was established in 1988 by Michael L. Robertson, a retired Special Agent of the United States Secret Service, Criminal Investigator, Department of the Treasury. Our company specializes in Complex Fraud Investigations and Forensic Questioned Document Examination. During the past 20 years our business has grown to incorporate several investigative and forensic services to accommodate our clients. We provide investigative services to legal professionals, corporations, law enforcement agencies, private citizens and organizations. Fraud Investigation
Since 1988 Mike Robertson has been in private practice as a fraud examiner and an examiner of questioned documents. He has two experienced fraud investigators on his staff.
Our services are utilized by private individuals, corporations and legal counsel. We have conducted internal fraud investigations for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company Corporate Headquarters, the C.E.O. of Rubbermaid, the (former) Chase Manhattan Bank and foreign governments in federal cases with confidentiality agreements.
Criminal Defense Investigation
We also provide investigative support in criminal defense cases involving Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO), money laundering, conspiracy, entrapment, improper police procedures, misuse of informants, mishandling of evidence and a variety of other subjects.
We are able to identify potential weaknesses and pitfalls of federal government investigations.
Depending on how the defense develops, counsel may consider using us as an expert defense witness. We are court qualified to testify regarding investigative methods and procedures, chain of custody of evidence and to demonstrate inconsistencies in an investigation. Document Examiner Background - Qualifications and Training
While serving as a Special Agent with the U.S. Secret Service, Michael Robertson was assigned as a field examiner in forgery cases and as an examiner of written threats against the President of the United States.
Michael received his questioned document examination training from the U.S. Secret Service Training Academy. This academy is utilized by numerous state and local law enforcement agencies for the purpose of training their examiners. Michael received additional training from members of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation Forgery Division, from the examiner at the Cleveland (Ohio) Police Department as well as informal training with other recognized document examiners.
Michael has been qualified as an expert witness in 34 different court systems including federal court, the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania and numerous Common Pleas, Probate and Municipal Courts. He has been appointed to serve as an expert by various Common Pleas judges.
